From the UK is the snotty garage punk of Shitty Limits... great single!

29 Jun 2009
Yep - if you missed out on the first 7" (or the 12" USA tour repress from earlier in the year), you'll be chuffed to find out that we have copies of the repressed self titled Extortion 7". Freaturing neo-power violence anthems such as Pull The Pin and Mindless Violence...this will be outta here fast...

25 Jun 2009
We've got a whole stack of new jams for all the young urban professionals who frequent the city: Blank Dogs new single 'Waiting' continues the muted gutter pop of this enigmatic folk hero, Cheap Times new single 'Woodland Drive' is also on In The Red and delivers more high class power pop punk... And just in this arvo the new Hard Luck 7", a LP/CD from the Magik Markers, the first ever DVD from X (Live at the Forum in Melb from Jan 14th this year), and a whole swag of other goodies going out over the weekend, 7"s, LP's, lotsa new CD's and more !

26 Jun 2009
Yep, the Eucalypt /Majorca Split 10" has been a work in progress for lotsa time now, but not only is life, but label releases are like that sometimes but in the end the goodness prevails and out it pops..local issue 10" vinyl and a co-release between Yellow Ghost and Hey Presto. Enjoy.

24 Jun 2009
We are very excited to have copies of the very limited reissue of X's 'Home Is Where The Floor Is' sessions on 7". Featuring some of the best sounding raw Australian punk set to tape, we've got 'Hate City', 'Home Is Where The Floor Is', 'Good On Ya Baby' and 'TV Cabaret Roll'. They were pressed for the Flipper tour, and are limited to 500 copies. Now you see em...

19 Jun 2009
New on the Albert's Basement label is the second LP compilation titled Warm Cupboard. Tracks from a heap of locals like Fabulous Diamonds, Kes Band, Hi God People, Aux Assembly, Free choice, Aleks and the Ramps, Baseball, Woollen Kits and a bunch more. Limited pressing, hand-crafted art, liner notes, sounds nice.

18 Jun 2009
Great new 7"s in this week! The Watery Love 'Debut' 7" is three songs of idiotic noise rock skull music from the drummer of Clockcleaner and a couple of other erudite Philadelphians. The Pink Reason / Electric Bunnies split 7" is yet another feather in the bright plume of Pink Reason's vast recording output as both bands approach a more indie pop style. As mentioned below, the Free Choice / Mental Powers split has been blowing minds here with subtle psychedelic electronica meets weird folk. And back in stock is the killer new Video Disease single, Californian hardcore that brings to mind the best of Jerrys Kids, Void, Deep Wound, etc.

18 Jun 2009
Well as the new Super Deluxe Sonic Youth Double LP set of 'The Eternal' is flying out the door at a lightning rate (and rightfully so)we wished to give you the good heads up that it may not be around forever like this, so if you're thinkin' about securing a copy for yourself or as a neat prezzie, now is the time to act. Lots more red hot Vinyl expected in next week too, so stay tuned to our daily updated front page here.

So we have succumbed to some kind of 'social revolution' or something, and now we are on the Twitter-thing! Stalk us (and get updates about new stuff, instores, Leons escapades, etc) at twitter.com/missinglink3000...

15 Jun 2009
Lisa from awesome Sydney/Melbourne crust outfit Walrora just dropped in a bunch of their killer new split 7" with Wellington, NZ buddies Scab. 2 sides of punishment! We've also got the CD-R version of their cassette demo from last year in pretty limited quantities. Insert superlative word. Behold the mighty whalehorse!

15 Jun 2009
Lots of new items in today - CDs by Necroplasma, Subvertio Deus, Raison D'etre, Misery's Omen, Treblinka (double CD) Life Is Pain Bloody Meloncholy (Kim from Hypothermia/Lifelover - dark + nasty self loathing...very disturbed stuff), Dimhymn/Hypothermia Split CD, vinyl from Cauldron Black Ram and Grenade, as well as restocks of the excellent local release from Wither (CD and 7"), Abyssic Hate, Innsmouth, Dust To Dearth, Murkrat, and the classic Armoured Angel reissue.

13 Jun 2009
Mr Ivens was in the store today and dropped off this ultra-limited platter. Grim ryhmes of suburban paranoia/terror backed with heavy loops and decayed melodies. He's a really nice guy, which is in stark contrast to the avoid-getting-your-head-kicked-in-at-3am vibe this record projects.

15 Jun 2009
We got the last remaining copies of the Aktion Unit (no relation to Thurston's Dream/Aktion Unit, mind!)NSW tour CDR from a couple months back.. half dreamy power-ambience (aww) and then some of the noisy blackened free rock we're used to. Features members of Useless Children and Popolice!

12 Jun 2009
Fresh off the press via the Heathen Skulls label - Grey Daturas' Return To Disruption is now available on vinyl. Thick black slabs of hevosity to storm your turntable. Also in from Heathn Skulls is the Anthems LP from Black Fire, a collaboration between Fear Falls Burning and Black Widow. Creepy riffage and dark, icy head space. Seems like it's a great time for trans-continental collaborations and split releases.

12 Jun 2009
Part four in a series on the Temporary Residence label is this split 7" between Melbourne lads My Disco and USA's Young Widows with tracks exclusive to this release only. The artwork fits with the other three in the series to form a big ol' skull thing. Fancy! Limited copies yadda yada yadda get in quick etc etc etc.

12 Jun 2009
Yessirree bob, the latest full length from Sydney's 25 year plus stalwarts The New Christs is here and it's entitled Gloria. Is it titled as an ode to Them ?, a nod to the Shadows of Knight ? that we don't know, but we do ruddy know that it's packed full of original songs which does their legacy proud (not that they'd give a hang 'bout that)and sits alongside a brilliant discography from their early Green Recs days, to the solid as a rock Citadel singles, and onto the red hot full lengths that followed (every house really should own a copy of Distemper), with releases spread across the globe. The CD is here now, with the Vinyl in our grubby wrinkled hands by next week. One of Australia's best bands ! and even tho' you won't get told that by the vast majority of the print and electronic media...it's the friggin' truth as quality, longevity, low key work ethics & a deep love of music counts for lots and let that be the last word !

11 Jun 2009

12 Jun 2009
Yeah it's a bummer, but we've had to postpone tomorrow's Cut Sick / Straight Jacket show. Members of both bands are...sick. NO date for the rescheduled show, but...watch this space...

11 Jun 2009
We've got a pinball machine in store! One of the top five machines ever made, Tales Of The Arabian Nights, is now set up in the back corner. Come crack the high score while we spin the new Sonic Youth CD or Antidote re-issue!

10 Jun 2009
Dig this...we gots the new Split 7" between Free Choice (Jarrod of the Fabulous Diamonds)and Perth's Mental Powers. Both sides feature experimental meanderings across genres like Free-Folk, Psych, Krautrock, and 70's electronica, and we reckon that a swag of you reading this now will be excited to get it spinnin' on your stereo system. On Fifth Column Records and posted anywhere across Australia and anywhere across the world.

10 Jun 2009

5 Jun 2009
Yep,the spankin' new Sonic Youth alb the eternal is in stock now...on compact disc and deluxe double vinyl! Pretty neat and another fine Matador release for 2009.

4 Jun 2009
Continued from below: The Beets are a new jangly indie rock meets NZ punk unit that would sound good on a split 7" with locals The Twerps. Someone make that happen in the interests of international relations. Blessure Grave have a lo-fi gothic vibe on their debut release, really killer tunes here. And The Bitters sound like Vivian Girls if they listened to more PUNK. So that's the roundup on this great new label kicking out high quality, well packaged records and tapes... check them out!

4 Jun 2009
We're excited to get in a whole swag of releases from NY hipsters Captured Tracks. You might remember the Repairs cassette that we've been slinging on the counter - they are a local Melbourne synth drone band, and this tape is excellent, highly recommended! We've also got the Dum Dum Girls 12", the first release on the CT label recently repressed. All girl indie rock band that Super Wild Horses fans will probably love! Plus, the new Blank Dogs 12" 'Seconds' follows the same muted morbid tone of their previous releases, for anyone who has been following the course of this one man project turned band from NY, they will not be disappointed at all! Really effective, catchy without being corny, gloom saturated tunes, like NY used to sound in the laments of Travis Bickle, kicking through fits in the slimy gutters, dodging the muggers and steamy sewage vents! Some of the best tunes of the year here!

3 Jun 2009

25 May 2009
The new issue of cult hardcore punk zine Distort is in store now - a split zine with France's Ratcharge fanzine.

22 May 2009
A couple of the cray-zee kids from local indie faves Aleks and the Ramps are in a band called Denim Owl, and they just released their debut EP on Linker 'Dirty' Dan Lewis' label Special Award! It's all dreamy space pop- perfect if you like Stereolab, Bis, Bachelorette (any great indie pop really!) Speaking of the Ramps, we also have their new split 7" with Canadian buddies Mixylodian! SICK.

22 May 2009
We've got copies of the limited to 100 copies demo release from this new Melbourne Screamo unit with folks from Quebec, Diamond Sea and Majorca and with ex-Missing Linker and Yellow Ghost records honcho Tara on vocals. Killer aggresive and heavy tunes for anyone who's stuck in the 90's with bands like Uranus and His Hero Is Gone on the brain! Come and get one before they're all gone, and it won't put you out of pocket at $5 either!

18 May 2009
43 minute movement of oppressive instrumental power, cyclic ritualism and bleak hallucinogenic revelation. Drawing influence from Michael Gira and his Swans legacy, the sledgehammer riffs and industrial pummel of Godflesh, and continuing Stegeman's incense shrouded low-end incantations from his work with doom dealers Whitehorse, combined with Jackson's reverb-soaked noise, Alchera strips bare the needless excesses of post-rock and heavy metal in favour of something much more concise and affecting. Out now on Exo Records....

13 May 2009
Forever supportive of all ages shows and Missing Link Records, it's appropriate for Cut Sick to end it all in the basement on Saturday June 13 with Straightjacket Nation. The bands will start around 3pm, refreshments will not be served. We at Missing Link would like to extend our love to Cut Sick, one of the most insanely fast Melbourne hardcore bands to ever exist, and all the members in their latest pursuits: Cult Minds, Useless Children, Rowdy Robby G and The Lizardz, Brain Children and Agents Of Abhorrence.
Also on the afternoon, all stock will be 10% off (excluding already discounted sale stock and tickets), and Cut Sick will be donating their bodily fluids for scientific experimentation.
