As of tomorrow am we take on the LP/7" collection of Bruce Milne, which incorporates decades of indepth fandom across a wide range of genres. Amazing Original Pressings and Red Hot Rarities, this really is a breathtaking array of Music & goes to help Bruce as he farewells The Tote & takes on new challenges in 2010. Bruce Milne began his Retail tenure at Missing Link, in the late 70's, along with his initial label beginnings with Au-Go-Go which kicked off when he was still employed at the link, so some of these rekkids are from that specific time and there really IS something for everyone, so come on down and have a dig & grab some gems to treasure just as these have been over the past 30 odd years.

A new record label releasing many amazing and unique bands originating in Providence, R.I. The first three bands to be signed by the label are Chinese Stars, Six Finger Satellite, and Sensitive Hearts. We just got these releases in store including the restock of the Arab on Radar - Sunshine For Shady People DVD! Beautiful packaging and great music!!______________________________________(seriously folks, on repeat listens, these albums are DYNAMITE ! the 6FS LP just may be one of the BEST of 2010 when we look back with it's JESUS LIZARD Lurch & toe tappin' sleaze guitar..just FANTASTIC ! And grab a clear listen on the AB site why dontcha)____ And on the local front, exo records have issued a cool triple treat of vinyl goods, all of which we have in stock as we speak. First cab off the rank is the debut outing from Teen Archer who offer up a 7 track red vinyl 10" of garagedout punk muck, and hot on their heels is album # 2 'Reality & Visions' from shop/customer faves Deaf Wish and this vinyl LP, (split with the Idget Child imprint) recorded in Cliffy Hill takes their sonic sick & psyched screel to higher & dire places. It looks pretty spesh on vinyl & features the 'Deaf News' track previously issued as a 7" (11 tracks in all). The other release is a scant few leftover tour 7"s in a paltry edition of 200 hand numbered copies from The Diamond Sea & NYC's Love or Perish. As with a lot of these releases we get in here at the link, some of them disappear in a puff of smoke within daze of us stocking them so we say if you love your vinyl & wanna nail these top notch musical treats then do not delay.

Our good friend Jay Reatard died this week at age 29. Missing Link have been long fans and supporters of his music, and going thru our catalogue looking at the vast number of reatarded releases we've stocked really hit home his unique combination of a hyperactive work ethic and unique song writing talent that made the scumbag punk of Reatards so tuneful and the wasted synth punk of Lost Sounds so malevolent, not to mention the countless other projects he recorded and produced up to the punk pop brilliance of his solo material.
Missing Link pushed around the Bad Times, jumped at the opportunity to co-present his first Australian tour, sweated out the struggle to get a paltry number of 7"s from his Matador blitz, waited alongside our customers in great anticipation for his singles compilations and second LP. We were excited to hear he was going to reissue the early Reatards material on his label Shattered (which turned us onto Digital Leather and the Carbonas among other shop favourites), as well as finally compile his Angry Angles material. We got a great kick out of the Final Solutions LP with an ugly bastard rocking a shirt with the Australian flag on it, as we knew Memphis understood Australian punk like few other places in the world, and our speakers still crackle from blasting his Go Betweens or Saints covers to curious customers.
It is with great sadness that we mourn this loss. We will be playing his solo catalogue on constant rotation for the next couple of weeks, and have a counter box of his CDs going very cheap for anyone who came in too late. Jay always enjoyed his time in Melbourne, and the number of people that have come into the store to pour out a liquor for him has been heartening. To everyone who knew him, to his close friends and family, to everyone who came to see his shows and freaked out on his hard-to-locate records, to everyone who made Australia a place that he looked forward to visiting again, to everyone in Memphis especially including the Goner records folk who he probably lifted his first Ramones CDs from, to everyone across the states who had their nose or heart broken, to everyone in the world who are as shattered as we are, our thoughts are with you.

Enfant Terrible Productions is a Dutch label who have been putting out some fine sounding vinyl releases since 2004. As well as releasing obscure VPRO (http://www.vpro.nl) broadcasts by Luc Van Acker and Kaa Antilope, they've put out the latest Agent Side Grinder (the finest non-wuss synth-rocker in a looooong time), a fantastic LP of material by Hero Wouters (1981-1986 - awesome, analogue creep-outs), and two great compilations of noisy European ice (Radio Resistica and the vinyl only Festival der Genialen Dissidenten LP, which comes with a bonus 7" and a smoking Christian Death cover by Vincent K.), they also whip out a series of highly limited 7"s. Busy, busy, busy folk and definitely worth your attention...so have a poke through the new vinyl - they're asking for it!

San Fran's long standing Punk Rock Newsprint monthly Maximum Rock'n'Roll has a new issue out in #320 & it has a great feature inside of the best punk /hardcore releases of the decade & is well worth a read as the columnists (including our very own ML staffie DX) have really put the time in & given up solid lists with hefty wordage on why they've made the cut. Quite a bit of Aussie music amongst 'em too which is neat and it really is a great issue. Lots of other reading amongst it's pages too of course, and we can send it to you wherever you may roam. Next week we'll have up our Xmas recommendations along with our best of 2009 lists to check out so watch this space and enjoy the hell outta your Thursday !
