Well, Well... I bet you thought I was dead!! but no I wasn't ... It has been pretty busy as usual and it is hard to find time to update... but here it is ..... It's been pretty hectic in Melbourne over the last few weeks live music wise especially now that i have my own (shitty) band.... but more about that later...
Hot Water Music just passed through town again along with them came the last Nation Blue shows for the next 6 months... and the show was pretty damn good... it lacked a little of the intimacy of the show at the Arthouse last year but was still a great night .... (that lead to drunken antics at the Cherry bar but I'll leave that out here) ...
A few weeks ago now there was a bunch of great shows when Stockholm Syndrome (Syd) and Existance Is Dead (Bris) came through town (with St. Albans Kids last Melbourne shows tied in) the weekend came to a peak on the Saturday night at the Pink Palace with all the bands (that I saw) ruled Terror Firma are a must see if you can find them playing around, Schifosi (with the addition of Jackie on gutair) are a brutal powerhouse... amazing, amazing, amazing... Existance Is Dead are fantastic and I look forward to seeing more of them.... St. Albans Kids with a bit of a slackened set having only jammed a couple of times with new drummer Jordan held it together enough to be good. While Stockholm Syndrome set about putting thier ep release to shame with a blistering set.
anyway ... enough crap about shows ... there are some great records on the way... I'm pretty excited about the Severed Head Of State - Anathema Device full length that should be here next week .... also the Charm City Suicides - II cd which I am hoping will rock like The Worst record.... There is a new Beehive & The Baracudas coming too ... If you haven't heard "Plastic Soul" check it out (feature Rocket From The Crypt members) it's fantastic!!
The new Boris 7" 7 inch, 1970 should be about to be shipped from Japan in the next week or so.... They just went to the UK and played with Thrones and Sunn o)). Sunn o))'s new record White 1 should be here in the next week or so... I've heard it and I dig it.
Ergh .... lost my flow ... will be back.

Oki doki people…. So I have been busy putting pen to paper and faxing round a couple of orders so I thought that as some stuff will be coming in while I am away (two weeks at a camp for kids ahhhh what a restful holiday) I would take this opportunity to mention a couple of things that I recommend looking out for. First of all the Orchid / Combat Wounded Veteran split 6 inch that has been long out of print… some lost copies of this resurfaced and we got 8 copies coming our way… so if you missed out the first time try get in quick to get one of these.
Tragedy – Vengence on vinyl for those who have been holding off for the wax!!
The Hot Cross / Light The Fuse And Run split 7 inch is coming back in for those who missed the first batch… Also we have the new Light The Fuse And Run 7’ coming in too!!
We have a handful of each available issue of Heartattack zine coming in if anyone is after any of the back issues.
These will most likely not even see the shelves and we may not get them again but I will write them here anyway. Navio Forge lp (short lived outfit featuring Mike Kirsch of Fuel/Torches To Rome/Bread & Circuits long out of print) only 2 copies and a mishap from the Ebullition press a Reversal Of Man / Los Crudos split (was supposed to be a repress of Los Crudos / Spitboy lp) we got 2 of these and there ain’t too many about so keep your eyes peeled.
Liars – We No Longer Knew Who We Were 12” on Sound Virus for all the hip young kids.
Corrupted – Paso Inferior lp. I’m keen to hear this brutality!! 1 lp = 1 song!!! Sick!!
Racebannon / Song Of Zarathustra – split on vinyl … great stuff, check it out.
Infest – No Man’s Slave lp which came and went late last year finally backing stock!!
Videos!!! Some great looking videos coming this way… Operation Ivy live video!! You And I – last show ever video, Los Crudos / Naked Aggression live, Charles Bronson/Chokehold/Capitalist Casualties live and Born Against/Nausea live video. We got 4 copies of the Op Ivy vid but only one of each other title…
So, that’s just some of the stuff heading our way, we also have a small shipment coming our way from Japan with bundles of Boris restocks and a couple of titles we didn’t get the first time along with some other interesting sounding releases, should be interesting.
Well that’s that for now …

Ok, so it was a pretty long weekend just passed. Off Minor hit town Thursday and played Goo Thursday night with Days Of Iris and Widow/Orphan. Despite the fact it was at Goo it was a great show. Friday was a great day with the instore, Off Minor were smokin’ (see website gallery for photos) and St. Albans Kids also made a brief appearance. The show at the Arthouse, Friday night was a good one Lakes a.k.a Sean Bailey (George W. Bush/Vivian Girls/St. Albans Kids) kicked of the night with some casio tunes check him out at the Rob Roy on Friday 10th of January. Then Manmade Lake (ex-heartfeltself, Days Of Iris and Missing Link staff members) made there appearance followed by Widow/Orphan and Days Of Iris (who were great even though Adam almost lost his temper at his guitar strap). Off Minor where on fire!!
Then Saturday rolled around and it was down to Shantytown for the all ages show. I missed MacGuyver [Taxidiver] (St. Albans Kids/Lakes/George W. Bush members) but if they were as good as they were at their first show then they are well worth checking out if you get the chance. I got there in time to catch Schifosi who are totally brutal, power crust in the vein of His Hero Is Gone/Tragedy/Severed Head Of State, a great way to kick of the arvo. St Albans Kids played a steamy set with a break in the middle to do their Couchman style forum part 2 (if you were at Shantytown last time they played there then you will get what I mean). They sat the fellas from Off Minor down and threw a few questions at them which was great as they had been asking people to ask questions at every show with no response. So after learning a little more about Off Minor, St. Albans Kids finished of and Off Minor took the stage and ruled AGAIN!
So you’d figure by this stage I would be over Off Minor but no it was on to Good Morning Captain to see Nation Blue and Off Minor in the little lounge room space. Nation Blue were, as always, mighty impressive and it was a great final Melbourne show for Off Minor before they headed out the door and into the cars and set off for Adelaide.
Well I was pretty buggered after five shows in 3 days, but I’m thinking of the Off Minor guys who will be feeling it about I reckon as they will be halfway between Adelaide and Brisbane after two shows in Adelaide… So if you are in Brisbane or Sydney check out www.screamingbloodymess.com for details of the shows up there and go see these guys!
